His comments are bad, yes, but this is part of free speech isn't it? You can't expect everyone to have something nice to say. It's hard to ignore comments and views like that for the family I'm sure but I think anything like that should be delt with by the people who run a page or website, for YouTube you can get videos taken down and such. It's hard to say anything on this due to the nature of the story becuase if you defend free speech, you could be accussed of being insensitive. |

I agree with you. It's defeating the whole purpose of free speech entirely. His comments were sick and twisted, yes, but surely being an ***** isn't against the law. The world gets stranger every day. You have people being jailed for reasons that make no sense, like this case. |

IMO this guy is a guy that I would most likely smack if I saw him but locking him up for this imo is just plain crazy. Locking up guys like this pretty much means we can't really say anything anymore. Now I am not saying to insult anyone. I am just saying that locking up for this is just a little crazy. Now again I agree with everyone above. This guy is a crazy, bad man. But you cannot lock up people for being a butthole. If this was on yahoo news people will be targeting this guy like a heat seeking missile on the tail of a Jet. They would give suggest giving him life in prison or even death. I have conflicted views on this But first For gods sake I'm sick of people saying oh I have Aspergers Syndrome to get away with things I have that, it doesn't make you a total bastard That guy is clearly just scum, look at his eyes He should definitely be locked up But not for that That's just silly I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished but that's ridiculous he should just be banned from the internet for a few months and he should have to go to some kind of meetings to sort out his attitude because he's not fit to be around people It's nothing to do with Aspergers Syndrome he's just an arsehole simple as The law is freaking ridiculous these days people do far worse than that and don't get in trouble I've even heard of loads of people going to jail for months just because their dog done a poo on some grass, it's good for grass anyway that's pathetic Anyway I think this is too severe a punishment |

No reason, to put him in jail to be honest. As mentioned, he is entitled to say whatever he pleases, so long it isn't breaking the law. Seriously, isn't there something better to do, then putting a guy in jail for posting utter bull***** on the *****ing internet? |

I don't think he was jailed for just being rude but more for being a persistant nuisance. I see it as the same as someone who turns up at strangers funerals shouting abuse. They might find he has a mental illness and be unsuitable for court. Like the man who punched Leona Lewis. |

Well, he does look like a nutcase to be honest with you. But putting him in jail? I think he should just pay a fair amount of money for his stupidity on the Internet.

Been thinking about this, and although what he said was incredibly unfeeling and harsh, locking him up was strange. It almost scares me. Times are getting hard. I fail to see in what way he broke the law. There isn't a law against being a dickhead, or insulting a deceased person. It's morally wrong and I think he owes the family a formal apology, but to actually place him in an American cell with real, hardened prisoners is out of the question. Unless he goes to a different sort of cell, due to having Aspergers Syndrome. |

I think it's for persistant harrasment. If enough people make a complaint about someone or he's causing distress then I think they have a right to do something about it. I don't know why they couldn't just ban his internet though. I'm wondering if there's more to this story than we're being told. |
